They huddled in misery
Not knowing what to do.
All the joy, all the goodness
Made with such care was lost.
“All is not lost,” said the Creator.
“What was created is broken,
But it will be restored.
The ideal will become reality.
I will make this right.”
They wondered,
How will this happen?
What are we to do?
We were to serve them,
But now they serve Satan.
Then Michael stood tall,
Strong and brave,
“I am ready to fight evil
And restore goodness.”
And Gabriel joined him,
“I will bring messages of hope
To the man and the woman,
So they can find their way back.”
And the angels clapped
And cheered and said,
“Yes, we will help,
We will help them come home.”
“It will not be easy”
The Creator warned.
“They have chosen the wrong path,
And we cannot force them to change.”
“There will be suffering.
There will be pain.
It may be a long time,
Many generations,
Before they can return to the Garden.”
They nodded in agreement.
“We are ready to help them,
Their children and their children’s children.
We will endure until they all return.”
The Creator had a plan,
And the Archangels were convinced,
And the angels with them had hope.
Even while the earth
And all its creatures wept.
And the man and the woman
Walked away from the Garden,
Uncertain of their future,
Not knowing that the Creator
Had resolved to help them.
