For eons they watched,
Waited, assisted.
Celebrated each new creation
As it formed and took its place.
And the Creator said,
“It is good.”
The creations were magical,
But not made by magic.
In turn they came from the void,
By design, according to the principles
Underpinning the cosmos,
To this day.
From the darkness,
Light shone bright.
And the angels murmured
Amongst themselves,
“What will come in this light?”
When the first life appeared,
Blades of grass, plants,
Trees bearing fruit,
They celebrated.
And the Creator said,
“It is good.”
The Creator had separated
The waters and the land.
New creatures were made,
Living creatures that moved,
Swimming in the waters.
And in the air
Came flying creatures.
And the Creator said,
“It is good.”
And the angels were glad,
For they had helped,
And it was good.
But when they looked at the land
They wondered,
“What creatures should live there?”
A multitude of creatures!
Creatures of every shape
And size and color,
The Creator designed,
And the angels assisted.
Some creatures ran quickly,
Others were slow.
Still others climbed the trees.
They all played,
Enjoying life.
And the angels laughed.
They thought it was good.
But the Creator was not finished,
One more was needed.
A special creation
With an eternal spirit,
The highest intelligence,
The warmest heart of love,
And free will to choose
How to use these gifts.
The Creator said,
“These are my children.
The first man-child,
He is my son, Adam.
The first woman-child,
She is my daughter, Eve.”
“They will multiply,
And fill the Earth,
And they and their children,
And their children’s children,
Will care for all the Cosmos.”
And the Creator said,
“It is very good.”
And the angels cheered,
And clapped, and danced,
And sang songs of joy.
For the Creator’s work
Was done.
