Snowdrops have a very deep meaning behind them. As one of the first flowers of spring, they symbolize new beginnings, hope, rebirth, and the ability to overcome challenges. As snowdrops always have white flowers, they also have the meaning of purity, innocence, and spirituality.
How great is God, our Heavenly Parent, to create such beautiful things as the little snowdrop for us to enjoy and learn from!
This winter, with snow still on the ground, I looked out one morning and I saw these snowdrops bravely pushing their way up through that cold to get ready to flower!
They amaze me with their resilience – these are my faithful little snowdrops that manage to produce flowers every year, even though all I do for them is enjoy them. I hope they feel the love.
They bring me hope when all the other plants and trees around show no signs of new life, some of them even looking quite dead!
Here are some that I planted several years ago, and they keep flowering every year.
Even more interesting, is that there are some snowdrops that appeared without my planting them! I think the squirrels must have been at work, digging up their bulbs and then planting them to eat in the spring – clever snowdrops grew before the squirrels remembered them!
My favorite is this one which appeared all by itself, in the grass near our driveway! It had only one flower. It looked quite lonely, facing the challenges of growing and flowering without any help, just its own indomitable spirit to fulfill its purpose. And it is beautiful.
As I wrote before, people often resemble flowers. This snowdrop reminded me of a special friend of mine. She has gone through many traumas in her life, with parents who gave her no love, no friends, no teachers or others around her to support or encourage her. All she had was her relationship with God. I have learned a lot from her about resilience, faith, and trusting that God has created us all with a purpose, a beautiful purpose, like this humble little snowdrop. I hope my precious friend, and this little snowdrop, are less lonely and more loved soon.
Happy update! My lonely snowdrop is now surrounded by three friends. It’s a humble little group, but there is joy and hope in even a small community that support each other. Well done little snowdrop!
